With the final January numbers in, FNC has now been the No. 1 cable news network for 13 years straight, in both total viewers and the demo in both total day and primetime viewing. But the network shed viewers in total day viewing vs. January 2014.
The ratings for January 2015 (Nielsen Live + Same Day data):
- Primetime (Mon-Sun): 1,475,000 total viewers / 272,000 A25-54
- Total Day Mon-Sun): 972,000 total viewers / 191,000 A25-54
Fox News dropped below the 1,000,000 viewer average in total day viewing, down -7% from its 2014 average. Compared to last January, the network was down -11% in viewers and down -13% in the demo for total day viewing. In primetime, FNC was down -13% in viewers, but up +3% in the demo thanks to a strong primetime lineup which includes +14% demo growth for “The O’Reilly Factor” and +9% growth for Megyn Kelly‘s “The Kelly File.” “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren” also showed +9% growth in demo vs. January 2014.
For the 11th straight month, FNC had the top 14 cable news programs in total viewers. The network also had 8 of the top 10 shows in the demo.
