Jake Tapper’s The Lead Named Best Newscast

The National Headliner Awards, now in its 81st year, have honored CNN’s The Lead with Jake Tapper as best newscast.

The Headliners, which honor the best in print, online, TV and radio reporting, also honored Tapper’s afternoon broadcast with best coverage of a major news event for the Paris Attacks.

Other winners include PBS NewsHour for continuing coverage of “No End in Sight: Fighting ISIS;” Dateline NBC’s Andrea Canning for her investigative report called “Hope and Heartbreak;” and Robin Roberts for news magazine reporting for “Katrina: 10 Years After the Storm with Robin Roberts.”

And, on its final day on the air, Al Jazeera America is being honored for health/science reporting for coverage of the Flint water crisis.

ESPN is also taking home two Headliner awards its E:60 program for sports feature and documentary series.
