Earlier this month, we reported on an amusing local news interview between a 7-year-old boy named Jaden and KGW-TV’s Drew Carney. As you may recall, the boy said live and on-air that he had no idea who Carney was, but made clear that he was a fan of NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt. He also expressed interest in meeting Holt one day.
Jaden and his family are now in New York, and the Nightly News fan got a chance to stop by 30 Rock earlier today to meet Holt. Jaden was a bit shy at first, although he mentioned that he likes to watch Nightly News with his grandma. Jaden opened up as the visit continued.

Jaden and Holt found that they actually have a common interest: Music. The young boy is an avid violin player, and performed for Holt in his office. The anchor, well known for his skills on the electric bass, gave Jaden some tips on how he plays his instrument.
Holt also gave Jaden and his family a tour of the Nightly News studio. He had the opportunity to operate the cameras and read from the prompter, took a tour of the control room and even sat in the director’s chair.
Holt will talk a little more about the encounter on tonight’s edition of Nightly News.
