Jacko Not Guilty: Pool Coordinator Persuades Jurors To Speak At Press Conf.

By Brian

At the conclusion of the Scott Peterson trial, media coordinator Peter Shaplen took the jurors aside tried to “sell them on the idea” of attending a post-deliberations press conference. “Don’t try to run to your car and rush out of the parking lot, because they will follow you,” he warned. He explained that a press conference would be more controlled and safe.

The same thing happened this afternoon in Santa Maria, as CNN correspondent Rusty Dornin explained this afternoon:

“The judge told them that the representative for the media, Peter Shaplen, who’s been the pool producer here, was going to back with them to talk to them for two minutes to tell them what to expect, which Peter Shaplen also did at the Peterson trial, just talked to the jurors, say, look, they don’t bite.”

“They just want to ask you a few questions. If you want to do it, we’re happy to have you stay. If you don’t want to do it, there’s a place to go and you don’t have to and you can go home. So, that’s what he was doing right now. We’ll have to see who actually shows up in that jury room for this jury press conference.”
