Jack Welch Calls FNC “The Perfect Storm”

Former GE chief Jack Welch singles out News Corp’s Rupert Murdoch and FNC chair Roger Ailes in his new book, “Winning.” “Welch opines that Fox News was nothing less than ‘the perfect storm’ when it bowed in 1996. Then the head of GE — the Peacock’s parent company — Welch was very much Fox’s competitor,” Variety reports.

A quote from the book: “In the outside world, both Rupert and Roger made it so you couldn’t open a paper or turn on a TV without hearing, in some form, about the relentless advance of Fox.”

And Pamela McClintock concludes: “Ailes and Welch have been friendly since the days when Ailes worked at NBC News and CNBC. That coziness continues. Rumors are that Welch could make regular appearances on Fox News’ proposed financial news net spinoff.”
