Izzy Povich, who left MSNBC last summer after 19 years at the network, is joining CNN as morning VP, heading up Early Start and New Day, Variety reports.
Current morning VP Jim Murphy, who has been at the helm since the shows launched nearly 4 years ago, will now oversee CNN’s documentary unit. Javier Morgado, also an NBC alum, remains as ep of New Day.
The 3-hour New Day is on a roll in the ratings. In February, for the second straight month, New Day beat MSNBC’s Morning Joe among younger viewers. February was also the show’s second best month since it launched in June 2013.
CNN also announced today that former Trump campaign spokesman Jason Miller, who backed out of a White House job in late December, will join the network as a commentator.
