The European Awards for Investigative and Judicial Journalism honored Fox News state department correspondent Benjamin Hall, as well as Fox News photojournalist Pierre Zakrzewski, and Fox News freelance producer Sasha Kuvshynova, posthumously, with the La Presidenza Journalism Prize Friday evening in Naples, Italy.

Hall, Zakrzewski and Kuvshynova were attacked in Ukraine this past March while on assignment for Fox News. Hall suffered horrific injuries in the attack, but managed to survive. Zakrzewski and Kuvshynova did not survive.

Hall is continuing in his road to recovery and could not attend the event. Fox News Italy-based journalist Amy Kellogg accepted the award on their behalf and teed up this video message from Hall:

“Ladies and gentlemen, thank you so much for this award today. I greatly appreciate it. I want to start off first by paying tribute to Pierre, to Sasha [Oleksandra Kuvshinova], to all other journalists who have lost their lives covering war. But I do believe that it is essential that we keep on doing this job, that it is so important for telling the truth. I think that without journalists on the ground, you wouldn’t know for real the horrors, the murders, the atrocities that are taking place. Nobody knows the strength, the courage, the resilience of all those people who are fighting for good. I know that having survived with all the injuries that I had, I now have a firm belief that there is good on the other side of evil and in this job, in our lives, we must keep looking for that good, we must keep looking for ways out, ways forward. Thank you very much tonight. And let’s pay tribute again to all those journalists who are out there doing this job. Thank you.”

The organization also played a tribute video for Zakrzewski and Kuvshynova.
