Irish Network RTE May Have Gotten the Best Olympics Interview Yet

By Chris Ariens

Brothers Paul and Gary O’Donovan won silver for Ireland in the lightweight double sculls competition Friday. But it was their interview with Ireland’s RTE network that is pure gold. The brothers, from Skibbereen in County Cork, talked to RTE anchors just after the race.

“The legs are like jelly, but I suppose we did a little celebrating. And we got to put on the podium pants as well,” said Paul, who got hung up after the race by organizers. “I had to go do this doping control thing, so I was there for an hour or two trying to take a pee into a cup for them. After 10 liters of water, I’m full up to be honest.”

“‘Tis all well and good,” added his brother. The interview has been watched more than 4.5 million times on RTE’s Facebook page.
