USAT’s Peter Johnson: “In this burgeoning media age, with more choices on cable and the Internet available to readers and viewers, network executives and correspondents say that offering exclusive investigations helps to differentiate them.”

ABC’s Paul Slavin says: “By the time people come to our (evening) programs, they know a lot of the headlines. So we have to do more than just tell them there was a fire, more than ‘Teflon is not good for you.’ We have to give them something they’re not getting anywhere else.
