Talk show host Laura Ingraham has been on a victory tour of sorts ever since her now-infamous Tuesday morning appearance on ‘Today.’ During the segment, Ingraham challenged NBC to “bring the Today show to Iraq. Bring the Today show to Tal Afar. Do the show from the 4th ID at Camp Victory…”

I think Laura should know that NBC has brought the Today Show to Iraq. On August 17, 2005, Matt Lauer co-hosted the show from Baghdad’s Camp Liberty, where he interviewed troops. The trip was unannounced in advance because of security precautions. NewsBusters and other blogs took note of it. Weekend Today co-host Campbell Brown has also been to Iraq (not to mention Nightly News anchor Brian Williams).

> A network insider said this afternoon: “Ingraham owes an apology to Richard Engel and all the reporters who have been there for years covering this story without an agenda.”
