‘If Walter Cronkite and Jon Stewart had a Baby its Name Would be Brian Douglas Williams’

Brian Williams has been immortalized in the Garden State.

At an event in Asbury Park last night, the “NBC Nightly News” anchor was inducted into the New Jersey Hall of Fame, by none other than the state’s most famous resident (not Chris Christie) Bruce Springsteen.

“He first worked in broadcasting at KOAM-TV in Pittsburg, Kansas… didn’t know that existed,” said Springsteen. “Then Washington, Philadelphia and finally New York City.”

“To paraphrase a friend of mine,” said Springsteen, “if Walter Cronkite and Jon Stewart had a baby, and due to the ongoing controversy over same sex-marriage they had to abandon that baby on the New Jersey turnpike, and it grew up to be a news anchor, its name would be Brian Douglas Williams.”

“I wouldn’t trade growing up where I did, how I did, with anyone, anywhere,” said Williams. WATCH:
