Howie Kurtz Interviews Barbara Walters For ‘MediaBuzz’

Barbara Walters sat down this week with Fox News’ Howie Kurtz for an interview that will air on “MediaBuzz” Sunday.

Walters and Kurtz discussed her upcoming retirement, what she wants her legacy to be and Jenny McCarthy’s new role on “The View.” They also discussed the current state of “20/20,” the show that Walters anchored until 2004.

20/20 now is not the news magazine that it was. It’s very popular but it’s much more theme and crime oriented, and so the news magazine per se doesn’t exist,” Walters said. “So that the kinds of interviews I did, I would probably put them on Good Morning America. We don’t have the same programs and we don’t have the same need for those in-depth political interviews that we used to have.”

Walters and Fox News have a historically friendly relationship: in Zev Chafets‘ biography of Roger Ailes, the Fox News CEO detailed his longtime friendship with Walters. He also appeared on “This Week” in 2010 when Walters guest hosted the program.
