Howard Kurtz’s First Fox News Appearance

By Chris Ariens

Howard Kurtz made his first appearance on Fox News late today on “Special Report.” Bret Baier introduced Kurtz saying he’d front an occasional media criticism segment on his show, and others. “Welcome to the team,” Baier said to Kurtz. The two discussed the coverage — in Kurtz’s opinion over-coverage — of the George Zimmerman trial on cable news.

Kurtz’s appearances on existing Fox News shows may be the most we see of him for now. Part of his new role will be to host a media criticism show for the network replacing “Fox News Watch.” But last Friday, Kurtz Tweeted, “New show will take awhile to get up and running.”

Kurtz’s final “Reliable Sources” on CNN aired June 30. He’d hosted the show since 1998.
