By A.J. Katz

A number of CNN and HLN personalities took part in The Eighties Trivia Event, a celebration of the network’s new seven-part docuseries The Eighties, which premieres tonight at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The party was hosted by CNN and took place in New York Tuesday night. Well-known rapper and DJ Biz Markie was in attendance and performed his 1989 hit Just a Friend.

TVNewser was in attendance as well. No, we did not win trivia night.

Produced by Tom HanksGary Goetzman and Mark Herzog, The Eighties follows other CNN Orginal Series The 60s and the 70s. The Eighties intends to explore “the individuals and events that shaped a decade of exceptionalism and excess.” The docuseries looks at the age of Reagan, the AIDS crisis, the end of the Cold War, Wall Street corruption, the tech boom, and the expansion of television and the evolving music scene. Tonight’s two-hour premiere focuses on ’80s TV.
