How NBC News Reported Megyn Kelly Is Joining the Network

By Chris Ariens

“Megyn kelly is coming to NBC News,” said Matt Lauer at the start of the Today show’s 8 a.m. hour today.

“The respected and very popular journalist, TV anchor and author is coming to be part of our family a little later this year. Megyn, we cannot wait for you to join us and can’t wait to welcome you.”

“We’re all excited about Megyn coming,” added Hoda Kotb. Added Katie Couric, who’s subbing for Savannah Guthrie this week, “I e-mailed her last night and said, you’ll love NBC. She didn’t e-mail me back though.”

“NBC News is in the news tonight,” said Lester Holt about 23 minutes into Tuesday’s Nightly News. “We’re delighted to welcome her to the NBC News family,” he said.

There was no mention of the move on MSNBC where another former Fox News anchor, Greta Van Susteren, is thought to be considering a job offer for the network’s vacant 6 p.m. hour.
