How ABC News Viewers Lifted a Dangerous Philadelphia High School

An ABC News report about a struggling high school has helped lift the school to higher grounds.

Back in May, Diane Sawyer reported from Strawberry Mansion High School, a Philadelphia high school riddled with so much violence, a student had to actually step in to protect Sawyer when a fight broke out in the hallway.

ABC News went back in September to see how the school was fairing in the new school year. Thanks to viewers, the results were an overwhelming success.

New books, school uniforms, sports equipment, prep classes, and college scholarships were donated by ABC viewers after the report. Even hip-hop star Drake was moved: he donated a recording studio.
