Hillary Clinton on Private E-mail: ‘I Did It For Convenience’

The Washington Press Corps descended on the United Nations in New York this morning when word got around that presumptive presidential candidate Hillary Clinton would answer questions about the private email account she used as Secretary of State.

Clinton met the press just before 3pmET, following a speech at the U.N. on women’s empowerment. She gave six minutes of opening remarks, then spent 15 minutes taking questions.

Fox News, CNN and MSNBC all covered the news conference live. NBC News produced a special report anchored by Lester Holt. George Stephanopoulos anchored a special for ABC. CBS carried the news conference on CBSN.

NBC’s Andrea Mitchell and ABC’s Jonathan Karl were among the 10 reporters who managed to get questions in to the 2016 frontrunner.

“I thought using one device would be simpler and obviously it hasn’t worked out that way,” Clinton said in her opening remarks. “The system we used was set up for President Clinton’s office. It had numerous safeguards.”
