Hillary Clinton Agrees to GMA Debate

Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton has agreed to debate Bernie Sanders on ABC’s Good Morning America. “I’ll be there,” Clinton told George Stephanopoulos Sunday morning.

“I want a debate, and I’m confident that we can work out a time to do that,” Clinton said. The network has offered both Clinton and Sanders time to debate on Friday, April 15. Sanders has not yet accepted, but said on This Week he was confident both campaigns would reach an agreement to the morning show debate. “I suspect it will work out,” Sanders said.

In the increasingly testy relationship between the Clinton and Sanders campaigns, the question of a debate in New York ahead of the state’s April 19 primary has become a sticking point. Clinton has accused the Sanders campaign of “playing games” by demanding a New York debate while rejecting proposed dates.

“GMA offered a debate during GMA on Friday the 15th. I’ll be there,” Clinton said in an interview to air Monday morning on the program. “I think it’s a great opportunity to reach an audience that may not always be able because of other obligations to tune in to debates.”
