Thirteen years ago today, the U.S. Supreme Court delivered a complex and controversial 7-2 decision that would make George W. Bush the 43rd president of the United States. The decision came 35 days after the undecided 2000 election. It began on election night, when the news media botched the election night calls. They then followed the drama for the next 5 weeks, mostly from Florida, as lawyers argued, chads were counted and Katherine Harris became a household name.
