Here’s What Viceland Will Look Like

By Chris Ariens

Viceland, a new culture and lifestyle network from Vice, will take the spot of H2 early next year on cable and satellite TV.

The first of seven new programs include travel show Gaycation with Ellen Page and Ian Daniel; Black Market hosted by The Wire actor Michael K. Williams; a pot show called Weediquette with Krishna Andavolu; and a food/culture show hosted by chef Eddie Huang.

“When we started making them, collaborating with our friends in the extended VICE family, we really didn’t know how they would come together to create a TV channel,” the network said in a statement attached to its first promo reel, released today. “But when we saw what we had, we knew we were on to something really special.”

The promo reel gives the impression that the shows will have the feel of some of CNN’s Original Series, as well as what Fusion is attempting with its new show Unreported World: edgy, immersive dives into cultural and sociological anomalies, produced in engaging, informative and entertaining ways.
