Here’s How TV News Is Covering the Second U.S.-North Korea Summit

The Hanoi summit is two-day meeting between Pres. Trump and North Korean chairman Kim Jong-un held in Hanoi, Vietnam, on Wednesday and Thursday. This will be the second meeting between leaders of the North Korea and U.S., following the first meeting in 2018, which took place last June in Singapore.

Trump is meeting with Vietnamese officials when he touches down today, before meeting with the North Korean leader.

Here’s how networks are covering the festivities:

ABC News:

World News Tonight anchor David Muir anchors coverage from Seoul, South Korea on Monday, Feb. 25, and will join Martha Raddatz, Jonathan Karl and others from Hanoi on Tuesday, Feb. 26.

  • In addition to Muir, Raddatz, Karl and correspondent Karen Travers will report on the ground from Hanoi.
  • ABC News will provide comprehensive coverage and analysis of the summit and all summit events on ABCNews.com. ABC News Live — the network’s 24/7 breaking news and live events streaming channel – will have full coverage throughout the week beginning on Monday, Feb. 25, including extensive live coverage of all the meetings between the two leaders and highlights of how the summit is being covered by North and South Korean media.

  • ABC News Radio will provide extensive coverage anchored by correspondent Aaron Katersky with reporting by Travers including special reports and one-minute status reports. The “Start Here” podcast will provide a special episode focusing on the summit.
  • ABC NewsOne, the affiliate news service of ABC News, will provide full coverage with Travers and ABC political director Rick Klein providing analysis from Washington. NewsOne provides news content and services for more than 200 ABC affiliates and international news partners.

CBS News:

Jeff Glor will lead CBS News’ division-wide coverage of the summit from Vietnam for all broadcasts and platforms.

  • Glor’s coverage from Hanoi begins Monday, Feb. 25 on the CBS Evening News and continues throughout the week. The CBS Evening News with Jeff Glor will originate from Hanoi on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Glor will also lead special reports for coverage surrounding the summit and contribute regularly to CBS This Morning and CBSN, CBS News’ 24/7 streaming news service
  • A team of correspondents will contribute to CBS News’ comprehensive coverage, including Face the Nation moderator Margaret Brennan; CBS News chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett; and CBS News foreign correspondent Ben Tracy, all reporting from Vietnam.
  • On CBS News Radio, Glor will co-anchor CBS News On The Hour with Jeff Glor throughout the week from Vietnam.

Sean Hannity will present an interview with President Trump from Hanoi.

  • Fox News Channel will present live coverage of the United States summit with North Korea in Vietnam beginning on Sunday, Feb. 24th and continue with special on-site programming throughout the week.
  • On Sunday, Feb.24, chief national correspondent Ed Henry will kick off the week’s coverage, anchoring the 8 p.m. hour live from Hanoi, Vietnam to preview the upcoming summit.
  • Heading into prime time, FNC’s Sean Hannity will present Hannity live from Hanoi beginning on Monday, Feb. 25th. During his on-site coverage, Hannity will present an exclusive interview with President Trump following his meeting with Kim Jong Un to discuss the latest news surrounding the summit.
  • FNC will also broadcast programs live from Hanoi on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
  • Co-anchor of America’s Newsroom Bill Hemmer and Special Report’s Bret Baier will present their respective programs from Hanoi, where they will break down the latest developments from the summit with expert guests and analysis.
  • Ed Henry will lead overnight coverage on Wednesday, Feb. 27th and Thursday Feb. 28th from 1-3 a.m. ET.
  • Chief White House correspondent John Roberts, Washington D.C.-based correspondent Kristin Fisher and senior foreign affairs correspondent Greg Palkot will also be reporting live from Hanoi throughout the week.
  • Additionally, Fox & Friends will start an hour early on both Wednesday and Thursday, beginning at 5 a.m. ET for special coverage.

NBC News /MSNBC:

Lester Holt Leads NBC News Coverage From Hanoi. Hallie Jackson, Peter Alexander, Kelly O’Donnell and Bill Neely will report from Vietnam for Today, NBC Nightly News and MSNBC.

  • NBC News and MSNBC together will deliver around-the-clock coverage of the second meeting between President Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, anchored live from Hanoi, Vietnam and NBC News headquarters in New York.
  • Holt leads the network’s coverage beginning Tuesday, Feb. 26, with a special edition of NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt live from Hanoi. NBC Nightly News originates live from Hanoi Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Holt will also anchor NBC News special reports throughout the summit and will contribute to Today.
  • NBC News chief White House correspondent Hallie Jackson, NBC News White House correspondents Peter Alexander and Kelly O’Donnell, NBC News chief global correspondent Bill Neely and NBC News political reporter Carol Lee will report from the region throughout the summit for Today, Nightly News, and MSNBC.
  • White House reporter Jonathan Allen will be on the ground in Hanoi for NBC News Digital, providing breaking news coverage and analysis.
  • On MSNBC, coverage starts Tuesday, February 26 with Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski, and Willie Geist on “Morning Joe,” and “The 11th Hour’s” Brian Williams continues rolling coverage Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
