Here’s How Networks Will Cover President Trump’s Trip to U.K., and Meeting in Finland With Putin

After a stop in Brussels for the NATO Summit, President Donald Trump is heading to the UK to meet Queen Elizabeth II and Prime Minister Theresa May. Then this weekend, he will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki, Finland. Here’s how the TV news outlets are covering these significant events.

ABC News:

  • ABC News announced special coverage of the Helsinki Summit between President Trump and President Putin on Monday, July 16, along with reporting on President Trump’s first working visit to the UK to meet Queen Elizabeth II and Prime Minister Theresa May and the NATO Summit this week.
  • Comprehensive coverage will air on the ABC Television Network,, ABC News Live, ABC News Radio, ABC NewsOne, ABC News OTT, mobile apps and social media.
  • Chief anchor George Stephanopoulos will lead coverage for the network for all three events.
  • On Monday, July 16 Stephanopoulos will anchor Good Morning America, and anchor David Muir will anchor World News Tonight from Helsinki.
  • Chief Foreign Correspondent Terry Moran will report on the latest developments on President Trump from Brussels, U.K., and Helsinki, senior foreign correspondent Ian Pannell will cover the NATO Summit from Brussels, and White House Correspondent Tara Palmeri will accompany Secretary of State Mike Pompeo on his trip to Brussels and report from Helsinki the following week.
  • Chief White House correspondent Jonathan Karl will report from Washington, D.C. on the latest news and reactions stateside.
  • On Sunday, This Week with George Stephanopoulos will be anchored by Karl with reporting from Stephanopoulos from Helsinki.
  • Nightline will devote its entire program to the Helsinki Summit on Monday, July 16.
  • ABC News will offer continuing coverage and analysis of the Helsinki Summit, President Trump’s first trip to the U.K. and the NATO Summit on and ABC News Live, its live 24-hour news channel, beginning Wednesday, June 11 with reporting and analysis from ABC News anchors, correspondents and analysts. Coverage will be available on, ABC News social pages (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram), and the ABC News OTT and mobile apps.
  • ABC News Radio will offer full coverage with reporting by Correspondent Karen Travers, including live coverage as events warrant and one-minute status reports multiple times each hour.
  • ABC NewsOne, the affiliate news service of ABC News, will provide extensive coverage with Correspondent Molly Hunter reporting from the U.K. and Helsinki.  NewsOne provides news content and services for more than 200 ABC affiliates and international news partners.


  • CBS This Morning co-anchor Norah O’Donnell will lead CBS News’ network-wide coverage of the Trump-Putin summit from Helsinki beginning on Sunday, July 15.
  • O’Donnell will kick off the coverage with a summit preview on Face the Nation this Sunday and later that evening will co-anchor the CBS Weekend News.
  • Additionally, she will co-anchor CBS This Morning on Monday from Helsinki with Gayle King, John Dickerson and Bianna Golodryga from New York.
  • O’Donnell’s reporting will also be featured on the CBS Evening News with Jeff Glor on Monday evening.
  • O’Donnell will also lead CBS News’ Special Reports for coverage surrounding the summit and contribute reporting to CBSN, CBS News’ 24/7 streaming news service.
  • Chief White House correspondent Major Garrett, CBS News foreign correspondent Elizabeth Palmer, White House correspondent Weijia Jiang and Face the Nation moderator and CBS News senior foreign affairs correspondent Margaret Brennan will contribute to CBS News’ coverage.
  • CBSN will begin live coverage at 5:30 am ET on Monday morning with Vladimir Duthiers and Anne-Marie Green anchoring in New York. CBSN will carry the network’s special report and will continue coverage throughout the morning.
  • CBS News Radio will provide anchored coverage and special reports starting at 5:30 a.m. ET on Monday morning and throughout the event.  CBS News correspondent Steve Kathan anchors from New York and will be joined by White House Correspondent Steven Portnoy from Helsinki, Finland. CBS News military analyst Jeff McCausland and former CBS News Moscow bureau chief Beth Knobel will contribute to the broadcasts from New York.


  • Beginning Sunday, CNN will provide live coverage of President Trump’s summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin from Helsinki, Finland with anchors Christiane Amanpour, Wolf Blitzer, Anderson Cooper, Chris Cuomo and Jake Tapper.
  • Joining the coverage will be CNN correspondents Matthew Chance, Fred Pleitgen, Michelle Kosinski and Nic Robertson, as well as CNN contributors David Gergen, Susan Glasser, John Kirby and Phil Mudd.
  • Coverage will be simulcast on CNN International.
  • CNN Digital will also be covering the summit meeting live across all platforms, including debuting the premiere episode of Anderson Cooper Full Circle on Facebook Watch live from Helsinki at 6:25pm ET, Monday July 16.

Fox News:

  • Fox News Channel will present special live coverage surrounding President Trump’s trip to Europe this week and next, including stops in Brussels, Belgium for the NATO Summit; the UK for visits with Prime Minister Theresa May and Queen Elizabeth II; a stay in Glasgow, Scotland; as well as Helsinki, Finland for his meeting with President Vladimir Putin.
  • Beginning Wednesday, July 11, The Story, anchored by Martha MacCallum, and Hannity, hosted by Sean Hannity will broadcast live from London, England. Both programs will also be live from London on Thursday, July 12 and Friday, June 13.
  • FNC’s chief White House correspondent John Roberts, White House correspondent Kevin Corke, senior foreign affairs correspondent Greg Palkot and foreign affairs correspondent Benjamin Hall will report live from various locations in Brussels, Belgium and England. Additionally, Corke will provide live coverage from Glasgow, Scotland throughout the weekend.
  • On Sunday, July 15, FNC’s Chris Wallace will anchor Fox News Sunday live from Helsinki, Finland. He will also interview Putin following the summit in Helsinki.
  • Fox & Friends’ Ainsley Earhardt will co-host the weekend edition on Sunday, as well as the weekday edition of Fox & Friends on location in Helsinki on Monday, July 16.
  • Anchor Bill Hemmer will also host a special edition of America’s Newsroom’s on Sunday from  2-4 p.m. ET, as well as co-anchoring the show live from Helsinki on Monday morning.
  • Additionally, FNC’s chief national correspondent Ed Henry will co-host Fox & Friends Weekend on Sunday, and anchor overnight coverage in Helsinki, providing updates on the latest news from Sunday into Monday.
  • Leading into Monday night, Special Report with Bret Baier, Tucker Carlson Tonight and Hannity will all broadcast live from Helsinki, with contributions on the ground made by Roberts and Corke.

Fox Business:

  • FBN provide special live coverage of the summit between President Trump and President Putin in Helsinki on Monday, July 16, with FBN:AM kicking off the live coverage at 4 a.m. ET with breaking news from the meeting.
  • Maria Bartiromo will anchor a special four hour edition of Mornings with Maria (5-9 a.m. ET) where she will be joined by a rotating panel of experts to provide further analysis of the summit’s political and economic impact.


  • NBC News and MSNBC together will deliver live coverage of President Trump’s first visit to the UK as well as his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki.
  • Special coverage will be live from London and Helsinki with anchors and correspondents also reporting from New York, Washington, Moscow and across the U.K.
  • NBC News’ coverage of Trump’s visit to the UK begins Thursday. Lester Holt, anchor of NBC Nightly News will anchor NBC News’ special reports throughout Trump’s visit to the U.K. and will contribute to Today.
  • Holt broadcasts NBC Nightly News live from London on Friday, July 13 and live from Helsinki on Sunday, July 15 and Monday, July 16.
  • Meet the Press Moderator Chuck Todd will provide analysis of Trump’s meetings with PM Theresa May as well as a preview of the president’s meeting with the Russian leader.
  • NBC News chief foreign affairs correspondent Andrea Mitchell, NBC News chief White House correspondent Hallie Jackson, and NBC News White House correspondents Kristen Welker, Kelly O’Donnell and Geoff Bennett will report throughout the trip for Today, NBC Nightly News, Meet the Press and MSNBC from London, Glasgow, and Helsinki.
  • NBC News White House reporter Jonathan Allen will report from the ground in Helsinki for NBC News Digital, providing breaking news coverage and analysis.
  • On MSNBC, coverage of President Trump’s visit to the UK begins Thursday on Morning Joe First Look.
  • Mitchell and Jackson will offer reports during their shows on MSNBC Thursday and Friday from the U.K.
  • On Monday morning, Mitchell anchors MSNBC’s coverage of the meeting between Trump and Putin in Helsinki. Mitchell and Jackson will continue to report for their shows on MSNBC from the ground in Finland.
  • NBC News chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel will report live from London for the president’s visit and will anchor his show On Assignment from London on Friday. Engel will travel to Moscow to report on the meeting between Trump and Putin.
  • NBC News chief global correspondent Bill Neely and foreign correspondents Lucy Kafanov, Cal Perry and Matt Bradley will also join coverage, reporting from the U.K. and Helsinki.
