Here’s How Much CBS This Morning Has Grown in 5 Years

By Chris Ariens

As it prepares to mark five years on the air next month, we’re getting a good look at how much CBS This Morning has grown, and how much their morning show competitors have dropped, since 2011.

CTM, which just posted CBS’s best Q4 morning news audience in 29 years, is also in its closest competitive position with NBC’s Today show in at least that long.

As you can see from the graph below, CBS has added more than a million viewers over the last five years while the Today show last lost about 850,000. In 2012, CTM was nearly three million viewers behind the NBC morning show. Today, it is less fewer than one million viewers away.

CBS This Morning launched Jan. 9, 2012 and has delivered year-over-year audience growth for 50 consecutive months. While ABC’s Good Morning America and NBC’s Today show battle for 1st place in the lucrative morning landscape, it is CBS This Morning, with hosts Gayle King, Charlie Rose and Norah O’Donnell, seeing the most consistent growth.
