Here Are the Top Cable Networks For the First Week of 2018

With college football bowl games dominating the TV last week, ESPN took the top spot in both total viewers and the A25-54 demo in both prime time and total day.

Fox News came in second among total viewers, in both prime time and total day, but fell to No. 14 in prime time and No. 9 in total day, among younger viewers. MSNBC was No. 3 in prime time and No. 5 in total day, among total viewers. But in the demo, MSNBC finished No. 17 and No. 16, respectively.

CNN was a Top 10 network, finishing in 9th place, in total day viewers, and took the 16th spot in prime time total viewers. In the demo, CNN was 14th in total day, and 20th in prime time.

Among programs, ESPN had 9 of the Top 10 shows, including bowl games and studio shows on New Year’s Day. Last Wednesday’s episode of The Rachel Maddow Show was the top cable news show, finishing as the 12th most-watched show on all of cable last week. Sean Hannity‘s Thursday episode was Fox’s No. 1 show last week, finishing 15th overall.
