HBO’s John Oliver Attacks Daily Fantasy Sports

By Brian Flood

Daily Fantasy Sports, also known as DFS, have been in the news quite a bit lately since New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman decided it was gambling in his state. Many people feel that excessive advertising is part of the problem and HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver spent nearly 20 minutes on the topic last night.

Oliver points out that most major television networks have some type of affiliation with either DraftKings or FanDuel, including Comcast, Fox, Time Warner and ESPN. The HBO host goes on to point out that many professional leagues are also in bed with DFS companies. There is even a Seth Rogen cameo in a mock FanDuel ad.
