Gretchen Carlson Will Develop and Host a Series of Lifetime Documentaries

Gretchen Carlson is coming back to television. But this time, she won’t be reporting the news. At least not in the traditional sense.

The longtime TV newser is taking her talents to A+E Networks, where she’ll be creating and hosting a series of Lifetime documentary specials.

The documentary specials, of which there will be three, will be developed by A+E Originals, the newly launched non-fiction content development company.

A+E Originals recently announced a partnership with fellow TV newser Elizabeth Vargas to develop and host its new A&E Investigates franchise.

“It has now been confirmed that our voices are amplified and actually get heard when we stand together, and I am proud to partner with Lifetime to make change happen by presenting the heartbreaking, but previously untold, stories of everyday working women,” Carlson said in a statement.  “We need to shine a light on the predators and their enablers, rather than ostracizing and blacklisting the innocent victims whose dreams and careers have been destroyed.

The first of these specials, The Brave with Gretchen Carlson (working title) for Lifetime, will focus on how Carlson’s work on combating and raising awareness about sexual harassment in the workplace. Carlson’s 2016 lawsuit and subsequent departure from Fox News served as a crucial catalyst for the #MeToo movement.

The other two specials in Carlson’s series will focus on “inspirational stories of every day Americans.”

Carlson’s sexual harassment lawsuit against Fox News co-founder Roger Ailes in July 2016 set in motion an avalanche that has led to more than a dozen lawsuits, the revelation of millions of dollars in settlements, and has cost the jobs of top executives and show hosts. Carlson has received a slew of honors for her work as a prominent force in the #MeToo movement, and was named one of Times 100 Most Influential People of 2017.

Carlson is the author of Be Fierce , which has been described as “a manifesto about how women can protect themselves from sexual harassment in the workplace.”
