Greta Van Susteren on Piers Morgan’s ‘Fancy Launch Party’

By Alex Weprin

Fox News Channel’s 10 PM anchor Greta Van Susteren takes to GretaWire to discuss the launch party thrown by Tina Brown for the launch of “Piers Morgan Tonight.”

She writes:

It is so different over here at Fox than CNN.  I can’t imagine Fox News Channel or friend of Fox News Channel having some fancy “launch party” at a fancy NYC upper east side address with a bunch of celebrities for a new cable news show.  It seems so out of touch with the rest of the country, doesn’t it?

Of course, this TVNewser editor seems to a recall a very fancy Upper East Side party–thrown by Fox (and pictured above)– that put the Morgan party to shame…

As the NY Times David Carr also recalls, FNC threw quite the launch party for Fox Business Network in 2007. As we reported here, the network took over the Temple of Dendur inside the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Now, of course, launching a new network is certainly a bigger deal than launching a new show, so Van Susteren’s point still holds, but as the FBN party shows, even Fox News engages in some excess every now and then.
