Greta Van Susteren: ‘I Never Expected to be an Anchor on Television’

By Merrill Knox

“Red Eye” isn’t the only Fox News show that had a birthday this week: Greta Van Susteren’s “On the Record” celebrated 12 years on the air Tuesday. “It’s pretty bizarre for me because I never expected to be an anchor on television. I was happy practicing law, teaching law, and lo and behold I sort of stumbled into CNN when they asked me to do some things,” Van Susteren said in a video on Gretawire this week. “And then O.J. Simpson happened, and I never really applied for a job. It just sort of unfolded.”

Van Susteren points to her travel as a high point during her time with Fox News. Her recent trip to a Syrian refugee camp in Kurdistan, Iraq with Reverend Franklin Graham will be featured on “Fox Files” tomorrow at 9pmET.
