Greg Gutfeld Leaving ‘Red Eye’ For New FNC Show

By Brian Flood

Fox News Channel has announced that Greg Gutfeld will be leaving “Red Eye” to host a new one-hour weekend primetime. Gutfeld will sign off from “Red Eye” tomorrow night, hosting his final episode of the late-night show at 3amET.

“We are confident that Gutfeld’s distinct perspective and knack for humor will start a valuable dialogue and be a refreshing addition to the weekend line-up,” said Fox News SVP of programming Bill Shine.

The new show, which is still being developed, will focus on Gutfeld’s libertarian values and social commentary. In addition to Gutfeld’s new role, he will continue to co-host “The Five” and make regular appearances on “The O’Reilly Factor.”

“Red Eye” will continue, with a variety of hosts filling in until a permanent replacement is named. Despite airing at 3amET, “Red Eye” has been a success. According to Nielsen, the program ranks in the Top 30 programs in the cable demo for February, outpacing some primetime programs including MSNBC’s “All in with Chris Hayes” and “Last Word with Lawrence O’Donnell.”
