GoPro-Equipped Ginger Zee’s Live Skydive

304ginger“Good Morning America” chief meteorologist Ginger Zee went skydiving on live TV this morning and strapped on a GoPro camera to document the event. The dive was part of the “GMA GoPro show,” which featured numerous segments using the extreme-action cameras.

Zee’s jump from nearly 13,000 feet over Homestead, Florida was the show’s highlight. On a perfectly clear day, Zee was in free fall at 120 miles per hour for the first part of her dive. She appeared extremely comfortable making the plunge and captured terrific footage on the way down.

Once her parachute opened, Zee amazingly narrated the jump as she descended. “This is amazing, I can see Miami. I can see all of the ocean here. It’s gorgeous,” she said.

“I’m so proud of the technical and producing team that helped me live out a dream and bring so many people along for the ride,” Zee told TVNewser.  “Huge thanks too to the incredible Golden Knights- Army strong and safe! ”

She took the plunge in tandem with Sgt. First Class Noah Watt, a member of the Golden Knights U.S. Army Parachute Team. Watt presented Zee with a certificate and told her she was “Army strong,” after the jump.
