Good Morning America Devotes Hour to Following up on Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria

By Chris Ariens

Good Morning America devoted its second hour this morning following the progress, or lack thereof, following three devastating hurricanes this summer.

GMA anchors Robin Roberts, Michael Strahan and senior meteorologist Rob Marciano visited some of the areas hardest hit by the storms.

Roberts reported from Puerto Rico, where Hurricane Maria stormed ashore Sept. 20; Strahan was in Houston following up on the destruction left behind by record rainfall caused by Hurricane Harvey August 26 and 27; and Marciano was in the Florida Keys which was devastated by Hurricane Irma on Sept. 10.

The Road to Recovery reports focused on the rebuilding and the resiliency.

“Having grown up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast I’ve experienced many hurricanes,” Roberts told TVNewser. “There’s always an initial outpouring of support but it’s equally important to keep in mind how long it takes to rebuild lives. That’s what we wanted to remind people of today by returning to the areas hit hardest by the hurricanes.”
