Glenn Beck Entering the ‘Daily Deals’ Business

Groupon, Living Social, Glenn Beck?

The outgoing Fox News anchor is preparing to launch a new “Daily Deals” service to compete with the likes of Groupon and Living Social. The site, MarkDown.com, will offer one to two deals a week, according to the Wall Street Journal, which first reported the story.

In an email to his newsletter subscribers, Beck laid out his plans for the site:

Markdown is a place where I will be able to connect you directly with the products and retailers that I love. From the best ice cream in America that you’ve never heard of, to a great summer beach read, to exclusive discounts at the name brand retailers you already know by heart — Markdown will offer all of that and more. Best of all, Markdown is a place where my personal slogan – value and values – will be brought to life.

Some of Beck’s most loyal advertisers are direct response companies like LifeLock (which is a launch partner for MarkDown) and Goldline. Those are companies that are, in many respects, tailor-made for these sorts of deals.
