“Almost exactly one month ago, ABC News president David Westin took Charlie Gibson to lunch to discuss the Good Morning America anchor’s much-anticipated move to World News Tonight,” Rebecca Dana reports.
According to three sources, Westin offered Gibson Bob Woodruff‘s chair on a permanent temporary basis. Gibson expressed interest and “Westin implied that a draft of a new contract would land on Mr. Gibson’s desk any minute.” But it apparently didn’t.
Dana quotes a WNT producer: “It seemed like we were on the cusp of something, and then it all just ground to a halt.” More…
