George Clooney Expresses Frustration With Partisan Politics in 2016

In an interview that will air on the upcoming edition of Fox News Sunday, host Chris Wallace sat down with actor George Clooney to talk politics in 2016, and promote the work that his organization The Sentry is doing to try to stop the corruption-driven violence and profiteering connected with conflicts in Africa.

Clooney, who has been politically active and informed for years, expressed frustration with today’s political discourse. “You know, I grew up as a Democrat in Kentucky in the 70’s, and I was a minority in that world,” he said. “I didn’t move to Hollywood and become a Democrat. But it wasn’t as contentious and there wasn’t the idea that once, one party got power that nothing was going to happen from the other side.”

He continued, “it’s odd for me to be on the same side of an issue as Bill Kristol and Charles Krauthammer and George Will and people like that.  And usually we’re not on the same side.”

Clooney preached unity across the political spectrum, and cease spreading feelings of divisiveness and fear. I think it was Edward R. Murrow that said, ‘we cannot be driven by fear into an age of unreason if we look deep in our history and remember that we are not the descendants of fearful people.’ I think that’s an important part of us and I think that’s important to remember as we go forward.”
