Gail Shister Loses Her TV Column

Gail Shister, one of the nation’s foremost television news industry columnists, “has been stripped of her assignment, in a move that’s been met with surprise and disapproval by many at that paper and at the Daily News,” Dan Gross writes.

She was told of the decision on Tuesday. She’s being asked to write more pop-culture TV features. “There are better ways to utilize my 25 years of contacts and reportorial skills than to limit me to pop-culture features,” she says bluntly.

An Inquirer editor says her column is too “narrowly focused” on TV news. The paper’s goal is to “serve our readers, not to make Romenesko,” the editor, Sandy Clark, says…
