Fusion and Univision Anchor Jorge Ramos Among ‘World’s Greatest Leaders’

By A.J. Katz

Fusion and Univision anchor Jorge Ramos has been named to Fortune’s 2016 World’s Greatest Leaders list. Ramos anchors newscasts on two networks, in two languages, for two audiences – America with Jorge Ramos on the millennial-centered Fusion in English, and Univision’s evening news Noticiero Univision and Al Punto, the top-rated Spanish-language Sunday public affairs show.

Jorge Ramos is a leader because he has kept immigration on the agenda and continually asked hard questions to politicians about topics that matter to his community,” said Fortune reporter Claire Groden.

Ramos has established himself as a highly respected and recognized journalist for over 30 years, but he only became a household name with non-Hispanic audiences after Donald Trump kicked him out of a press conference in August.

Ramos has earned eight Emmys, is the author of 12 books and bestsellers (including his latest out earlier this month) and writes a weekly column for more than 40 newspapers in the U.S. and Latin America.

John Oliver, host and executive producer of HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, is the only other U.S. TV personality to earn a spot on this top 50 list.

This is Fortune’s third annual ranking of the World’s Greatest Leaders. The list recognizes people who are inspiring others to act, to follow them on a worthy quest, and have shown staying power.
