Fran Drescher NOT in Negotiations for FNC, MSNBC Show

USNWR’s Washington Whispers reports that “The Nanny” actress Fran Drescher is in talks with Fox News and MSNBC: “She’s opened negotiations with Fox for a talk show. And why not? she says with that trademark nasal giggle. ‘A lot of my fans watch Fox News,’ says Drescher, who is also talking to MSNBC.”

TVNewser contacted both networks and it looks like Drescher and (USNWR) might be overstating the situation a bit. Bill Shine, FNC’s Senior VP of Programming, exclusively tells TVNewser: “There is no meeting currently scheduled with Fran Drescher and we have no interest in pursuing a talk show with her. We engaged in a brief dialogue with her staff which was nothing more than a professional courtesy and she never formally met with any executives at Fox News Channel.” We also spoke to an insider at MSNBC about Drescher’s claims who told us, “There’s nothing to it.”

So, for now, it looks like “the flashy girl from Flushing” won’t be coming “over the bridge” to cable news in Manhattan. (Sorry.)
