Fox To Air Three Saturday Night Games In May

By Marcus Vanderberg

Fox will air three consecutive Saturday nights of regionalized Major League Baseball coverage during the month of May.

May 14 will feature Boston-New York Yankees, May 21 is an Interleague matchup between the New York Mets and Yankees, and May 28 will feature six games – the most MLB games for Fox in a single TV window. Normally, three games are featured in a Fox afternoon window.

“This is going back to the days of Baseball Night in America on the Baseball Network,” Fox Sports President Eric Shanks said on the baseball lineup that’s expected to be formally announced on Monday.

It’s interesting to note that the two MLB Saturday night games Fox aired last season were up 40 percent over afternoon games. While I’m in favor of more evening games, three games in September on Fox would be more meaningful than evening games in May.
