Fox Picks Up Beauty Pageants

By Chris Ariens

Fox is the new home to the Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants with the 64th Miss Universe Pageant slated to air Dec. 20. Until September, NBCU owned 51 percent of The Miss Universe Organization, with Donald Trump owning the rest. Trump bought out NBC’s share, then sold the whole thing to IMG. Adweek’s Jason Lynch reports:

The agreement also gives the network domestic rights to air The Miss USA Pageant next year. “Miss Universe is a unique, global media property and this partnership with Fox marks a new era for The Miss Universe Organization as a whole,” said Michael Antinoro, IMG’s svp of original content.

In recent years, the pageants have included NBC News talent (see Thomas Roberts and Natalie Morales in the photo) among the co-hosts. It’s not known yet if Fox is reaching out to Fox News talent to take part in its broadcasts.
