Fox News’s Abby Huntsman Interviews Her Father, U.S. Ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman

By A.J. Katz

“Can I just say at the outset, Abby, that this is about the height of awesomeness to be interviewed by my daughter?,” former Utah governor and new U.S. ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman said to Fox & Friends Weekend co-host Abby Huntsman.

The Fox News journalist sat down with her parents for a two-part interview on Fox & Friends, and a good chunk of the discussion between Abby Huntsman and Amb. Huntsman focused on Russia. The journalist asked how the new ambassador will handle tensions between the two nations, bringing up the fact that 755 U.S. employees were sent home by the Kremlin this past Summer.

It’s really unfortunate that Russians made the decision that they did to cut — substantially cut our diplomatic presence in Russia. We all know that we’re facing difficult times. Probably the most difficult period in the relationships at the end of the Cold War.

His greatest challenge in dealing with Russia:

I think personally, Abby, the greatest challenge will be showing that we can achieve results in this relationship that are good for the people of America and good for the people of Russia. Cause the last thing I want to tell the president or the Secretary of State or the Secretary of Defense in the months and years ahead is we did our very best, sir, but we didn’t get anywhere.  I think the taxpayers expect more than that.

During part two, Abby Huntsman’s mom joined the conversation. She was asked about yet another move:

We are always running by the seat of our pants – the night before dad asked me to marry him, he said – I hope you’re ready for an exciting life. But it’s gonna be one filled with service. So when this job came up, I really didn’t even bat an eye. I just said – you know what? Let’s do it.

The TV newser then brought up the fact that her mom wouldn’t be able to spend time with her grand kids, and the trio talked about Abby Huntsman’s two brothers currently serving in the U.S. Navy.

At the end of the interview, Amb. Huntsman kissed his daughter on the forehead.
