Fox News Terminates Contracts of Gingrich, Santorum

By Alex Weprin

Fox News Channel has terminated the contracts of political analysts Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum, according to Politico.

The pair had been suspended for 60 days in March, as they considered running in the Republican Presidential primary.

Neither one has officially announced a candidacy, but both are considered likely to run.

Politico adds that another FNC contributor may face scrutiny from the network:

The network may also intensify the network’s pressure on Mike Huckabee, the host of a Fox show, to make up his mind about a possible bid.

The terminations were revealed the same day that FNC is slated to hold the first debate of the 2012 primaries. Of the candidates participating, only former Minnesota governor Tim Pawlenty is believed to have a strong shot at the nomination.
