Fox Biz In Q4: The 25-54 Demo Dilemma

By Brian

Fox News has the top five business shows on cable news. That’s a fact, as this Multichannel News chart demonstrated.

But it’s an interesting to note that 25-54 demo viewership for Fox’s business shows seems to be declining.

In 2006, Your World with Neil Cavuto had its lowest-rated year since 2001. The program averaged 222,000 demo viewers, down 16 percent from 2005.

All of FNC’s Saturday biz shows were down compared to 2005, too. Bulls & Bears was down 16 percent (267,000 vs. 318,000 in ’05) and had its lowest-rated year since 2002. Cavuto on Business was down 10 percent (256,000 vs. 284,000 in ’05) and had its lowest-rated year since 2002. Cashin’ In was flat (232,000 vs. 233,000 in ’05) and had its lowest-rated year since 2004. And Forbes on Fox was down 10 percent (245,000 vs. 271,000 in ’05) and had its lowest-rated year since 2003.

>Also: Responding to this chart, an e-mailer says: “It should also be noted that Fox’s current financial news programs are on once a week, while their competitors run every day. In theory this could lead to some consolidation of viewers, thus enhancing the numbers…”
