The former EP of CBS’ “The Early Show,” who was also Jeff Zucker’s top deputy at the NBC morning show “Today,” is reuniting with his old boss at the upcoming talk show “Katie.”
Michael Bass served as the number two to Zucker on the NBC morning show, taking over EP duties on an interim basis after Zucker was promoted. He left NBC in 2001, and joined CBS as EP of “The Early Show” in 2002. He would leave CBS News in 2007, returning to NBC in a business development role.
At “Katie,” Bass will serve as co-EP, alongside Kathy Samuels. Both report to Zucker and are helping to run the show, which debuts September 10. Bass has actually been working on the program for about two months, while Samuels was hired back in March.
