Former GMAer Mora Leaves Chicago For Miami Anchor Job

Former Good Morning America news anchor Antonio Mora is leaving WBBM-TV, the CBS O&O in Chicago, to become the main anchor at Miami’s CBS station, WFOR-TV. The move is effective January 28; his final day at ‘BBM is Friday.

Heading to Miami is “like going home,” Mora tells Phil Rosenthal of the Chicago Tribune. “I never thought I would fall in love with Chicago as much as I have…But if I had to leave Chicago, Miami’s a great place to leave for.” Rosenthal writes that, as a child, Mora lived in Miami, and has family in the area. He also worked for Miami’s WTVJ-TV in 1992.

Mora came to WBBM as main co-anchor but was eventually reassigned to helm only the 6 pm newscast, along with a weekly public affairs program. According to Rosenthal, Mora had one year left on his WBBM contract, and the WFOR job is a “multiyear extension from CBS.”
