An interesting Iraq-for-journos story in USA Today:

Jill Caroll‘s kidnapping “has prompted media outlets to revisit security precautions and share information with each other, just as network and cable news outlets do in set weekly meeting[s], says Chuck Lustig, who directs ABC’s foreign coverage.”

NBC News correspondent Richard Engel says reporters go through stages about the possibility of being kidnapped. “The first is, ‘It’ll never happen to me.’ The next is, ‘It might happen.’ The third is, ‘I’ve been here long enough it’s probably going to happen.’ And the fourth is, ‘I’ve got to get out of here.'” Engel says he is “between two and three…” (Via Romenesko)
