For CNBC’s Docu Unit, Time To Hire

Today is Josh Howard‘s first day on the job as vice president of specials and long-form programming at CNBC. The new VP’s mandate is to “increase the network’s output of long-form programming,” Gail Shister says.

“I’ve always had an interest in business and the economy,” Howard says. “If you walked into my office at CBS, I probably had CNBC on the air more than any other channel.”

He hopes to hire some former CBS colleagues. “At CBS, he managed a staff of 100. At CNBC, there are only ‘a handful’ of full-timers in the unit, a network rep says.”
