Following the announcement this morning that “Morning Joe” EP Chris Licht will be joining CBS News, MSNBC has announced the new management team on the morning program.

Alex Korson has been named EP of “Morning Joe,” while Ann Edelberg has been named senior supervising producer.

“Alex and Ann have been driving forces for the show’s success and I’m confident that they will continue to make “Morning Joe” the most talked about morning news program,” said MSNBC president Phil Griffin in a note to staff this morning.

In the email, Griffin also thanked Licht for his service at the network:

“I also want to take this opportunity to thank Chris Licht for his leadership. Chris has had an impressive career at MSNBC – as the executive producer of both “Scarborough Country” and “Morning Joe.” I wish him good luck with his new role at CBS.”

I’m pleased to announce the new “Morning Joe” management team. Alex Korson has been named executive producer and Ann Edelberg named senior supervising producer. Alex and Ann have been driving forces for the show’s success and I’m confident that they will continue to make “Morning Joe” the most talked about morning news program.

Alex has been a trusted and respected member of the “Morning Joe” team since he joined as senior producer in 2008. Prior to that, Alex was a senior producer with “The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch” on CNBC and he spent five years at that other morning news show on CNN. Alex is a smart and thoughtful producer who excels as the leader of the hectic “Morning Joe” control room.

Ann has been a longtime member of the “Morning Joe” team and has played an important role in developing the program’s unique brand. As “Morning Joe” coordinating producer since 2007, Ann has been responsible for guest bookings and segment direction. She has been with the NBC family for seven years, previously working on NBC News special projects and “The Jane Pauley Show.” Ann brings incredible enthusiasm, experience, and passion to the team and I’m thrilled to have her in a leadership role.

I also want to take this opportunity to thank Chris Licht for his leadership. Chris has had an impressive career at MSNBC – as the executive producer of both “Scarborough Country” and “Morning Joe.” I wish him good luck with his new role at CBS.

Please join me, Joe, Mika, and Willie in congratulating Alex and Ann on their well-deserved promotions.
