FNC Reports 45% Operating Growth

> Press release: “Fox News Channel reported operating income growth of 45% compared to the third quarter a year ago fueled primarily by double-digit advertising revenue growth which was partially offset by higher costs associated with covering international breaking news stories. Viewership during the quarter was up 15% in primetime and 5% on a 24-hour basis and for the fourth consecutive quarter FNC had more total viewers than CNN, MSNBC, Headline News and CNBC combined.”

> Bloomberg, today: “News Corp., the fourth-largest U.S. media company, posted a 7.8 percent drop in third-quarter profit on costs take full ownership of some sports cable networks. Sales rose 17 percent on surging advertising revenue at cable- television networks including Fox News Channel and FX.”

> Bloomberg, yesterday: FNC “more than tripled advertising revenue in January and February to $57.8 million, according to market researcher TNS Media Intelligence. Profit at the cable unit probably rose 31 percent in the quarter, analysts said.”
