Five Years Later: CNN Special Examines Gulf Oil Disaster

gulfThe 5th anniversary of the Gulf Oil Spill is this week and CNN will air a special report Blowout: The Gulf Oil Disaster at 9pmET. Senior investigative correspondent Drew Griffin travels back to the Gulf to look at the Deepwater Horizon spill’s impact on the people and economy of the affected areas.

“The special explores what the impact on the gulf will be. No one really knows for sure. Scientists say it is having an impact – oysters seem to be among the hardest hit- but BP says there are no long-term effects and the Gulf is rebounding,” Griffin told TVNewser.

The one-hour special will also feature BP svp of communications & external affairs Geoff Morrell discussing the clean up efforts. Environmentalist and ocean conservationist Philippe Cousteau will also join Griffin during the special and family members of victims will be interviewed.
