FBN’s Liz Claman & the Woman Quota at the World Economic Forum

By Molly Stark Dean

FBN’s Liz Claman — blogging for ForbesWoman from Davos, Switzerland — noticed something new at the 2011 World Economic Forum: the woman quota — which Claman wrote “requires all 100 strategic WEF partners (all of whom pay $500,000 dollars for five seats at the forum) to have at least one female participant.”

Claman was shocked at “how few women” were at Davos — but she told TVNewser:

One thing however that I *have* noticed is that many of the field producers sent by TV networks are women: Yvette Michael is my uber-producer, China’s CCTV producer is female, as is Al Jazeera. Hmmmm… Perhaps the media are a little more enlightened and perhaps World Economic Founder Klaus Schwab IS on to something with this women quota. We’ll see next year.

The FBN anchor has named the theme of this year’s form “Cherchez la Feme?” as a result of this new quota.

  • Earlier: TVNewser spoke with Claman about the atmosphere at this year’s forum and how she ended up in the men’s room.
